New Surfside Beach Pier restaurant to offer wine, charcuterie boards

Now that the Surfside Beach Pier is finally open, one restaurant is preparing to open their doors and welcome customers.

Mike and Rebecca Wallace own the Whistling Duck.

They started working with the city last summer to bring their business to the pier where they'll offer wine and charcuterie boards made with locally sourced products.

Customers will also be able to order food baskets to enjoy on the beach.

The Wallaces said they don't want to compete with the style of restaurants that are already in Surfside so they're providing different options.

"This is great for us, I'm excited," Rebecca Wallace said. "We talked about opening a restaurant since we got together. So, it's definitely going to be challenging, but I think it's going to be great for the city."

The owners are hoping to open the Whistling Duck, named after a bird found in South Carolina, on Memorial Day.
